Chicago, State Illinois

"Checaugou" means,  where the land smells of onions. In the 1770s, Jean Baptiste Point du Sable founded a trading post on the spot where Chicago now stands, and once the railway was established in the 19th century, it grew into the most important economic centre of the American Midwest. The great fire of 1871 destroyed one third of the city and promted famous architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright to work their magic and build the first skyscrapers on Earth. The city on Lake Michigan has a long tradition of music known as Chicago Soul. Chicago has a population of approx.9.3 million in the metropolitan area, and among its famous citizens are Edgar Rice Burroughs, Walt Disney, Harrison Ford and Hilary Clinton.
