South Korea

South Korea is situated on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula in East Asia. The country has a long coastline with many smaller islands on the western and southern coast of the Yellow Sea. South Korea is mountainous and rugged and the population is highly urbanized. The climate is continental with hot, wet summers and cold, dry winters. South Korea has high economic growth due mainly to export manufacturing. The main industries are cars, electronic goods, ships, steel, chemicals and toys. The main trading partners are Japan and numerous countries in Asia and Europe.
