New Zealand

New Zealand is one of the most isolated and least populated countries in the world. Powerful geological forces have created a landscape dominated by mountains, lakes and rivers. Comprising of two large islands, its land area is 270,530 sq km. In Auckland, the countries largest city, is the worlds most populous Polynesian centre. A vibrant, multicultural nation derived from the combination of its Maori heritage and colonial culture. The country has a reputation for producing some of the worlds finest white wines. Farming and horticulture play an important part in the economy, namely sheep farming, the country has an estimated 40 million sheep. Outdoor activities are abundant, namely walking, kayaking, skiing, cycling, water sports, fishing, hunting and mountaineering. A great country for eco-tours. The capital is Wellington.
