Mexico

Mexico lies in Central America and extends south from the border of the USA to Guatemala and Belize. Mexico is the largest country in Central America and the landscape is mostly high plateau flanked by the Sierra Madre mountains. The Yucatan peninsula in the southeast is mainly lowland and the climate here is hot and humid. In the mountain regions the climate is cold in the winters, while the plateau areas are warmer. Northern Mexico is mainly semi-desert and arid. Mexico is rich in minerals including copper, zink, silver and lead. The country has vast reserves of oil in the Gulf of Mexico and is one of the largest producers of oil and petrochemicals in the world. The main trading partner is the USA and the capital is Mexico City.
