Greece

Greece is situated in the Balkan region of southeastern Europe and the country is made up of a mountainous peninsula and many islands in the Aegean, Ionian and Mediterranean Seas. Much of the country consists of mountains and hills and the plains of Thessaly in the central and the northeast region are lowland areas. The summers are hot and dry while the winters are mild and wet, in the north it is colder with heavy snowfalls in winter. Greek exports include olives, wine, olive oil, raisins and citrus fruit. The tourism industry plays an important role in the countries economy and there is a large services sector. Other manufactured goods include textiles, clothing, chemicals and tobacco. Most trade is with other European Union countries. The capital of Greece is Athens.
