Denmark

Denmark lies between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea in northern Europe. The country consists of the Jutland peninsula and nearly five hundred islands. Denmark has a long indented coastline. The climate is temperate and cool with rainfall throughout the year. The country is very fertile and the main natural resource is its agricultural potential. Agriculture is high-tech and, with forestry and fishing, employs around six per cent of the workforce. Natural resources include oil and natural gas from North Sea fields. Denmark has a strong manufacturing industry that includes wood, furniture, machinery and pharmaceuticals. The country is very low-lying and the main trading partners are Germany and Sweden. Copenhagen is the capital city.
