Canada

Canada is the world´s second largest country and has coastlines on the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. The west of the country is dominated by the Rocky Mountains and in the centre lie the vast fertile Prairies. The eastern half of Canada is a relatively flat area of lowlands around Hudson Bay extending to Labrador on the east coast. Most of the Canadian population live in the large cities and urban areas of the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence basin. Canada is rich in mineral and energy resources and is one of the world´s leading producers of wheat, timber and seafood. The country is a major producer of uranium, iron ore, copper, nickel and zink, as well as oil and natural gas. A free trade agreement exists with the USA and accounts for around eighty-five percent of exports. The capital of Canada is Ottawa.
